My name is Kalina and I am the creator/founder of Liel. When I was in my last semester of seminary, my mom suddenly died. She was my best friend, and I was and still am devastated. She passed four days after Christmas, and since her passing, the Christmas season has always been really difficult for me. So, I created what I wish I had. The inspiration for these grief boxes came from me feeling like people really did not know what to do with me after my mom died. A lot of well-meaning people gave me gifts and said things that to me, tried to explain away my grief. But, really what I needed was space to grieve and to feel like God cared about me and loved me, even though I was grieving. These boxes do just that. They are the gift of "Space" to anyone who is grieving a loss, and the best part is, that they also bring God to the center of grief and suffering. Not in a way that explains away grief, but in a way that acknowledges grief. I hope that these boxes bring comfort to those that need them, and I hope that they no longer feel alone within their grief. So, if you stumble upon these boxes, know that you are not alone in your pain, that God sees you and loves you, and you will survive this.
